SUMMARY / OVERVIEW: We quantify EHR transaction volume, burden, frequency, and variation by clinician, clinic, specialty, location, service line, and more. Our insights segregate “low-value” work by clinical “actor” by care team, workflow, and EHR function. We calculate clinician time spent in the EHR by clinical FTE, staffing support, clinic days vs. non-clinic days, evenings, and weekends. The insights identify current practices, panel sizes, and staff ratios/turnover/tenure. We prioritize operational areas for improvement such as patient messaging, access, scheduling, redundant messages, unnecessary messages, Rx refill management, and other health system-specific functions.
